It’s finally happened: we’re returning to a previous Smunch venue. That’s right, we’re going to make a second visit to Local Breeze, CenPho’s best patio café! There are still many great brunch spots around town that we’ll visit in the coming months and we’re excited to visit them. But, we had such a good time when we visited back in April, we thought it would be fun to return and enjoy the fall weather. Come on over to savor great food with a really awesome group of people. Relax and enjoy a cocktail while you lounge on their fantastic patio. Seriously, Smunch might be the best and most relaxing meal you’ll have all week!
November’s Smunch will be happening this Saturday, November 13 at 10:30am. RSVP below or at our Tweetvite.
If you haven’t tried Local Breeze or if you want to hang out some of Phoenix’s finest dining companions, come on over on Saturday and enjoy!
That’s right, Smunch is heading back to the heart of CenPho and visiting the new Bliss/ReBar on 4th St. and Garfield! A lot of Smunch-ers have already visited Bliss and have a lot of good things to say, so we’re looking forward to this. They have great prices on brunchtime mimosas and Bloody Marys, so Smunch should be a great time to relax with old friends and make some new ones. If you haven’t been to Smunch, come on over and hang out with some great people!
Bliss is located just a short walk from the Central/Roosevelt light rail station, so if you don’t want to deal with downtown parking or you just want to enjoy a nice walk on an early fall morning, jump on METRO and come on down. Street parking is available as well, so if light rail isn’t your thing, you’re still welcome to come and have fun.
Get your RSVP in now! Click below or visit our Tweetvite for the address and details.
FEZ was a Smuch favorite a few months ago, so we’re going to visit a sister restaurant, TICOZ! Come on down to another favorite of central Phoenix diners and enjoy cheap drinks and good food with a group of great people. Seriously, how can you go wrong with this combination?
Check out the Tweetvite, or RSVP below. See you on Saturday!
For August’s Smunch, we’re going to showcase a new local gem: the purveyors of Mexican fabulosity known as Verde Restaurant! If you haven’t visited Verde ay their Central Phoenix location up 1st Street from Matt’s Big Breakfast, this is your chance to try their rockin’ eats. You remember the #crazyamy fiasco earlier this week? The Verde guys are totally the opposite: they have great food, served with sides of 0% crazy and 100% awesome.
Don’t worry that their published hours say they don’t open until 11:00 on Saturdays. They’ll be ready to greet Smunchers with open arms at 10:30! The on-street parking is limited, so plan to walk a little to get to Verde. Better yet, take METRO light rail! It’s just a short walk to Verde from the Central/Roosevelt, Central/Van Buren and 1st Ave/Van Buren stops.
After Smunch, we’ll head down to the local favorites Downtown Phoenix Public Market and Royal Coffee Bar to hang out and continue the fun and festivities.
Smunch will be happening on Saturday the 14th this month, so you only have one week to wait in eager anticipation of your favorite monthly brunch tweetup. In the meantime, click below or go to our Tweetvite to RSVP, then whet your appetite by reading what Yelpers have to say about Verde.
See you at Smunch!
Sorry this is coming out a little late! Smunchy looked at Tonia, Tracie and I a couple of days ago and said, “Yikes people! Smunch for July is coming up NEXT SATURDAY. Get on it!” So to make a long story short, Tonia had some fun adventures on the phone setting up the reservation. But at last, The Duce is all prepared for 30 or so Smunch attendees to descend upon it, hungry for great food and thirsty for cold drinks! So head on over to the tweetvite or RSVP below.
Wow, it’s been a whole year since the inaugural Smunch at Maizie’s! Since then, we’ve made a lot of new friends and found many amazing brunch spots around this great city of ours. Are we slowing down? Hell no!
To celebrate our first anniversary, we’re going to experiment with something new: Smunch on Sunday! This isn’t a permanent change, just a temporary departure from the usual Smunch schedule. Instead of holding Smunch on Saturday, we’re going to have it on Sunday, June 13. Why? Well, we’ve heard very good things about St. Francis, so bringing Smunch there seems only logical. But St. Francis only serves brunch on Sunday morning, so we’ll bend the rules a little bit to make this happen.
Also, we’ve heard from a few people that they’d love to come to Smunch, but they can’t make it on Saturday due to work schedules or other conflicts. Hopefully this Sunday Smunch will work out better for them and we can welcome even more new Smunchers.
To round out the reasons we’re moving Smunch to Sunday this month, Phoenix’s favorite bite-size lecture series will be held at the Phoenix Art Museum on the Friday before Smunch. That’s right, Ignite Phoenix returns for its seventh installment on Friday, June 11! Seeing as the Smunch and Ignite demographics have a lot of overlap , we figure that most Smunch attendees will be at Ignite, enjoying the after party, after-after party and after-after-after party until pretty late in the evening well into the morning. So if you’re heading to Ignite, no need to worry! You can sleep in as late as you want and you won’t miss Smunch. If you do oversleep into Sunday morning, you may want to check that sleeping pill prescription.
Head on over to the tweetvite or RSVP below. See everyone for Smunch on Sunday!
May brings some new adventures for Smunch. Smunch will be making the trek to Scottsdale on Saturday, May 8th, to try out all Cafe Carumba has to offer. One of the best parts of Cafe Carumba is the fact that breakfast is served every day until the afternoon, making it possible to incorporate brunch into your workday lunch on top of your weekend. Additionally, you may want to check out the various versions of eggs benedict.
Guaranteed to be a wonderful time, be sure to let us know you’ll be attending.
April is upon us already and hot temperatures are right around the corner. Seriously, they’re hiding out around the corner from Local Breeze in the empty lot at 5th Ave and Fillmore, just waiting to swarm all over the city and laugh at us Phoencians sweating our butts off.
But don’t be discouraged! Come to Smunch at Local Breeze Patio Cafe and show those hot temps that you’re not afraid of their hideousness. Enjoy mimosas on the patio*, eat a great brunch and enjoy the final days of a fabulous spring!
If you’ve been to a Smunch, you know how super awesome they are. If you haven’t, come find out. There’s no better time than the present! Carpe diem! Carpe Smunchyum! (Seize the Smunchy!) Actually, don’t seize Smunchy…Smunchy doesn’t like that.
Local Breeze is located in the heart of Phoenix at the corner of 4th Ave and Fillmore. There’s on-street parking, but the restaurant is also just a short walk away from the Central/Van Buren and Central/Roosevelt light rails stations, so leave your car at home (or at a Park & Ride) and enjoy the last of the nice temperatures.
That’s right, Smunch is branching out of CenPho! There’s lots of great restaurants there, but we live in a big valley and there’s plenty of other brunch gems around town. Caffe Boa is one of those. It features top-notch Chef Payton Curry, great local ingredients and unlimited mimosas/bellinis/champagne.
On top of all that, Smunchy’s favorite Guardian Unicorn Tonia M. Bartz returns from her overseas adventure! You don’t want to miss Smunch in March!
You know it, you love, now have Smunch at it! FEZ on Feb 13.
